Fall Semester Classes

All semester classes include 4 different clays, 30 glazes, as well as unlimited open studio time to practice.

Registration will open:

  • To current students on August 5 at 5 PM

  • To the general public on August 12 at 5 PM

Beginner: for students who have never taken pottery before or have had only one semester and would like to remain with students completely new to pottery.

All Levels: a true mixed level class. There may be complete beginners and also returning potters looking to focus on foundational skills and forms.

Intermediate: for students who have taken three or more semesters. Students do not necessarily have mastery over centering and basic forms, but must have the foundational knowledge over the process. Intermediate students desire to learn about forms and skills past simple bowls, plates, and cups.

Advanced: for students who have near or full mastery of basic skills like centering. Advanced students have had exposure to and/or already made more complex forms like jars, teapots, or thrown and altered pieces.

    • In addition to your class, you also have access to the studio for independent practice when classes are not happening.

    • You must reserve open studio time in advance using our scheduling system.

    • Members: Monday through Sunday, 24/7/365 Access to studio.

    • Students: Sunday-Thursday 10:00am-6:30pm. Friday 10:00am-9:30pm. Saturday 1:00pm-9:30pm.

    • Firing fees are an additional $.08 per cubic inch (covering both firings) and are paid through your Kiln Fire account.

    • Students will need to provide their own tools or purchase a tool kit at our studio.

    • Class cancellation made more than 7 days prior to the scheduled start date will be eligible to receive a full refund minus a $25 processing fee.

    • Cancellations made less than 7 days prior to the scheduled start date will receive a 50% virtual credit that is valid for 6 months from issuance.

    • Cancellations made within 24 hours of the class start, or after class start, will not be eligible for refund or credit.

    • Our policy is non-negotiable and exceptions cannot be made.

  • ClayHouse Brooklyn is not responsible for providing make-up classes or issuing reimbursements for classes changed or missed due to illness, emergency, COVID-19, pandemics and weather closings, substitute teachers, or other events beyond our control. Students may make-up up to 2 missed classes by attending a similar level class within that same semester.

  • Our staff is trained to take great care of your pieces during the firing process, but the complicated nature of clay can pose challenges that we can not control. We do not offer refunds for any unsatisfactory results (e.g., blistering, crazing, running, etc.), but can give you firing fee credit for pieces cracked before/during bisque.

  • If I didn’t get into a class, what do I do?

    • Add yourself to the waitlist at the bottom of that specific class page.

    What if I accidentally signed up for the wrong class?

    • Email us immediately and ask us to move you over manually (permitting availability). Please do not purchase another class.

    I’ve tried multiple times to sign up for a class but they always sell out, what should I do?

    • We recommend that people join a less popular class time, like Friday evening, for their first semester with us. Once enrolled in the system as a current student, people will receive early registration access for the following registration period.
