About this Workshop
Porcelain has a fascinating global history. Its translucent qualities, bright white color, and fine grained, glassy hardness drives its high demand. The creamy texture is desirable but also the most challenging aspect.
In this two-part workshop, Michelle will teach students how to use water effectively while maintaining structural integrity. Students will focus on some basics such as coning, centering, and pulling walls. The first cylinders will be cut in half, and then the second and or third pieces will be kept to practice shaping and more refinement. In the second class, participants will trim the pieces. Up to 10 pounds of porcelain, per person, is included in the workshop price. More porcelain is available for purchase at $1.50 per pound + tax. Firing fees are not included. Our Open Studio Time policy for workshops is stated below.
