About this Class
Working on the wheel can be very satisfying, but can also take a toll physically. This workshop will teach you how to align your whole body to leverage the strength you already have when working on the wheel and in associated tasks, including wedging. HanaKyle will guide the class using her expertise of what our bodies need to do to engage our muscles effectively, with the assistance of a Clayhouse teacher bringing their knowledge of technique and craftsmanship to the demonstrations.
In this 2.5 hour session, we will:
- discuss areas of concern in the body and relevant anatomical details, with plenty of time for Q&A
- practice specific stretches and mobility movements to prepare for and/or counteract the physical patterns of wheel throwing
- explore the details of how we use fingers, hands, wrists, shoulders, and neck in this work
- practice and experiment with ergonomic variations of common techniques, and get feedback in the moment
HanaKyle Moranz is a massage therapist and personal trainer of over 15 years, and recently returned to the wheel after a long hiatus. She’s enthusiastic to share details about anatomy, physiology, and using our bodies in optimal ways for longevity, both on the wheel and in everyday life. Learn more about her at www.hanakyle.com.
